NFL Gridiron Glory Exhibit

The next couple of blogs (I think) will be about the events of the Super Bowl as the Bay Area is hosting the same (San Francisco is the host city and the game will played at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara). Over the weekend I went to the Triton Museum of Art in Santa Clara. They hosted an exhibit called "Gridiron Glory", the best thing about it was the cost. It was free:

A 1910 Akron Indians Football

Hall of Famer's Redskins  Sammy Baugh's helmet

1927 Duluth Eskimos jersey
1954 Cleveland Browns signed football
Doug Williams Super Bowl XXII uniform
1940's Chicago Bear Hall of Famer Sid Luckman's jersey

Detroit Lion HOFer Joe Schmdt's 1962 helmet
Dutch Clark's 1937 Detroit Lion uniform
The Cleveland Brown jersey of the great Jim Brown
A couple of great QB's-Brett Farve and Kurt Warner
The shoe that Tom Dempsey used to kick his record 63-yard field goal in 1970. Dempsey was born with a half of foot on his kicking foot.
What they are playing for: The Vince Lombardi Trophy
It was super cool seeing the history of NFL come alive.

  13. Wow! Some of those items were quite old. I think those were the ones I was most impressed with. I don't follow the Super Bowl, but I will be mentioning it on Friday's post with the weekend linky party.

  14. It's amazing how the uniforms have changed! The wear so much more protective gear now. We have a hockey museum here (of course) and it is interesting to see the history of the game.
