In April when I visited Seattle and Safeco Field, I found the Mariners Hall of Fame in the main concourse behind the home plate area. I thought WOW what a great concept and great idea and I was not disappointed. It told the history of the Seattle Mariners, Seattle Pilots and the history of baseball in the Northwest:
The lineup card from the night Ichrio broke George Sisler's single season hit record and jersey from the game (below)
Ken Griffey Jr.'s 1995 Jersey
Mariner Bats (from left): Jay Buhner, Ken Griffey Jr, Edgar Martinez, Willie Hortonm Adrian Beltre
Lou Piniella's 1969 Seattle Pilot Road Uniforn
Mike Hegan's 1969b Seattle Pilot Home Uniform-I love both the home and road uniform
Home Plate from Sicks Stadium-home of the Seattle Pilots and Seattle Rainiers
A bench from Sicks Stadium
George Archer's 1940 Seattle Rainiers jersey
Harold Reynolds 1988 Gold Glove Award
The Mariner Hall of Fame is really cool and I love the fact that it is inside the ballpark. Next time you are at Safeco Field take a look-it is free.
i really need to visit seattle or portland at some point soon!
ReplyDeleteSeattle is a wonderful place. I have blogged a bunch about my trip over the last months. It is a great place. Of course, I lived there 20 years ago.
