Santa Cruz is known for its world famous beach and boardwalk. I had never been to Downtown Santa Cruz and went for the first time. It is a pretty interesting place. More public art and street musicians per capita then anywhere I have seen:
Untitled Clevis #2 |
Reclining Nude |
Rocky Dogs |
Pendulum |
Study #311 |
Ocean Life Spiral |
If you have a chance, take a walk through Downtown Santa Cruz. Who knows what you will see.
Most tourists miss such places because they dunk into water and stay on the beaches for the rest of their vacation. This is a pretty nice stroll.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fascinating walk you took us on. So much to see and hear.
ReplyDeleteWell I thoroughly enjoyed your stroll it was interesting :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a strolltastic week :-)

ReplyDeleteha, ha, this really made me smile: "More public art and street musicians per capita then anywhere I have seen". Downtown Santa Cruz surely looks lively and interesting- so much to see, so much to listen to, so much to take in photos.
ReplyDeleteWe went to the boardwalk when my kids were little, but not the the downtown area. Cool photos. It looks like you had a great time! Thanks for linking up at the Talbert Zoo. Have a terrific week.

Great pics again and thanks for sharing at #WednesdaysWisdom
ReplyDeleteWould have been wonderful to stroll amongst all those sculptures.
ReplyDeleteI used to go to college in Scotts Valley, a stone's throw away from Santa Cruz. When I had time, I would go to Downtown SC, up and down the sidewalks :-) I went back recently and some shops haved been replaced but it's stayed pretty much the same. It is eccentric and low-key. Visitors do miss it because they don't stray away from the Boardwalk, but the Boardwalk and Downtown is easy to walk on foot! And if you veer away from Boardwalk onto Ocean St., you can get amazing homemade ice cream at Marianne's Ice Cream. Great pictures! I'm your neighbor at the Wholehearted Wednesday linkup :-)
ReplyDeleteNever been to Santa Cruz. Many of those things looks like Downtown Chicago. Like that first clock you had shown. We have the same exact one on State and Madison, and there are shows down there still & street musicians galore & some art work here & there. Were your musicians any good??? I was in San Francisco in 1964, and that was the last time I was in California except once for a flight change when I went to see my Mom in Vegas. She use to live there in the 90's :) Thanks for stopping by my friend. HUGS
ReplyDeleteSanta Cruz looks like a great city to visit and see the town.
ReplyDeleteWow. You weren't kidding about the amount of art and number of musicians!
