About a month ago, I attended the The Hayward Chalk Art and Music Festival in Downtown Hayward. It was a cool event that featured a lot of cool local artists and people making their own art on the sidewalk:
One of the local artists was Julie Dotson who had some really cool work (and was really nice to talk to):
and another one named Mike Morkve who had some cool stuff:
But it was a cool time of art and some music:

The only chalk art I've tried is drawing a hopscotch grid, and I wasn't too good at that!

Interesting festival. Too bad it all gets washed away in the next rain - or do they add a fixative?

ReplyDeleteGorgeous artworks, I can't imagine how artist can be so talented with chalk. I personally would not be able to cope with this medium. To put all that hard work in, only to have it walked upon or washed away by the rain... :(
ReplyDeleteOne time we were in San Diego, California, when they were having a sidewalk chalk art competition in Little Italy. These were professional artists and their works were amazing. At the same time they had a street festival with so many great booths and FOOD! - Margy
