I went to the de Young Museum in San Francisco and saw their great exhibit "The Summer of Love" which happened in San Francisco 50 years ago. What was cool was that there was no politics involved in this exhibit it was about the culture, the clothes and the music of the Summer of 67:
And they even allowed you to Turn on, Tune In and Drop Out in a legal way:
The Summer Love exhibit at the de Young was in a word: Groovy.
Wow. It's been 50 years? I was a little young for the summer of love but the psychedelic themes and fashions continued on through the early 70's and I do remember those times.
ReplyDeleteFar out!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing at http://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2017/04/elvis-sighting-in-israel.html
Now I know how Native Americans feel to see their customs and culture in museums when they are still alive and kicking. Flower power!
ReplyDeleteLet the sun shine in! Remember most of what you pictured even though I was young during the 60s.
ReplyDeleteOh brilliant I would have loved it there thanks for the tour :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a 60'stastic week :-)
so full of love and colorful! Love it ..I miss SF and all its eclectics vibes!
ReplyDeleteThose are some "far out" fashions! I was born in '68, so a bit before my time. I concur with your assessment - Groovy!
ReplyDeleteThis post is "far out!"
ReplyDeleteWhat cool fashion to see! I love all the color and patterns.

Cool.
ReplyDeleteAwww another lovely series!
ReplyDeleteSome of those clothes made me laugh out loud! But they were "groovy" as you said, Patrick, back in the day. And I also laughed at the "Acid Test" and "Acid Test Diploma." Surely that was a tongue-in-cheek souvenir of some sort! Anyway, it's all very interesting and entertaining, Patrick! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletegreat post! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSuch a crazy fun era! Have a great week!
ReplyDeletePatrick, Groovy post, man! I was like four years old the "Summer of Love" and had no clue what it all meant. But...the fashion carried into the early part of the early 70s decade so I got to wear some this crazy stuff in my tween years. It was ugly then and the new retro from the era is even uglier. How is that even possible? lol Thanks for sharing and making me smile! :D
ReplyDeleteI remember those clothes! Cool post.
