Meek Estate Park is the estate of William Meek who was one of Hayward's most prominent citizens when the area was first being settled in the 1850's. Meek moved to Hayward in 1859 and seeded the area with cherry, plum, apricot and almond orchards. A source says that area, which is still known today,as Cherryland got its name because of cherry trees planted by Meek. Meek was a county supervisor and the Meek Mansion is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places:

Meek Estate Park is one of those really cool places in Hayward that not many know about. It is a lovely place to walk around and think about what life was like 150 or so years ago.
