Music Monday: Songs About Getting Older
Hello, just some songs about getting older. As I add rings around my tree, I find that it is a privilege and an honor to age:
It's wonderful that you have such a positive view of aging. It really is a privilege. Here is another "getting older" song; have you heard it before? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEY4LxORCeo
Jimmy Durante - yes, I'm definitely old enough to remember him. I know, from the friends who have left this world along the way, how much of a privlege growing old is. I cried starting halfway through "7 Years Old", a song new to me.
Age is just a number. Sometimes, we feel it but most I darn say feel younger than the years otherwise say. Durante's "Young At Heart" says it all, doesn't it? I'm happy with each year God gives me. I feel even more grateful after learning some news yesterday about two aunts finding out they have cancer. The one I'm closest to was told she's in stage 4. My heart is so heavy for my them, my uncles, and cousins. The only peace I have is knowing where she (both of them) will spend eternity and that's comforting but it doesn't remove the sting. I'm sorry for be such a 'Debbie Downer'. I really do like your song choices. Thanks for sharing the dance floor with the 4M gang, dear friend. Have a blessed week!
The first two are new to me. Some good choices. I went off theme this week but now I'm thinking of all those songs like John Prine's "Hello In There" and Kris Kristofferson's "Grandpa Was a Carpenter."
I see several of us had Durante on the brain this week. Good list!

ReplyDeleteSomehow I knew you would include Grateful Dead :) I thought of you as I included them in my own list today.
ReplyDeleteSome great songs here. I will have to check a few of them out. Thanks for sharing at Creative Mondays :) Hope you can join us again soon.
