Walking Behind Hayward's Memorial Park
I went over to Memorial Park in Hayward and did some walking on the trail behind the park. Memorial Park is the home of one of Hayward's great institutions- The Hayward Plunge. The Hayward Plunge is a Hayward institution as an indoor aquatic center that offers swimming classes, water aerobics, lap swim and open swim times. It is open year-around (except these days because of COVID-19). It is a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project from the depression and opened in 1936. Generations of kids from Southern Alameda County (including myself) learned to swim there:
There is a small park outside the Hayward Plunge but I have always like going behind Memorial Park and the Hayward Plunge to the trail behind it:
Memorial Park in Hayward is an amzing place and I glad that it is in my home city/
That looks like a wonderful place to walk.
ReplyDeleteYou have so many places to be out and walk. Like the water fall and the Plunge sounds great.
ReplyDeleteHi Patrick, nature soothes the soul and the trail would be a lovely place to find calm during this anxious time. Thanks for sharing at #MLSTL and take care.

ReplyDeleteA lovely little nature nook in an unexpected location Patrick. Glad you found it and thanks for sharing it with us at MLSTL and I've shared on my SM 😊
ReplyDeleteYour park is similar to ours, but the Fox River runs alone the middle and we have safe bridges that really let's us see the beauty. Some day I'll show you some pics as soon as my leg gets better. Stay safe... Stay healthy!

ReplyDeleteStunning photos.
ReplyDeleteA walk in nature leads the soul back home
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid we went to the Plunge in the town next door. I learned to swim at a private club in our town, but when I was a teen the Plunge was where every one wanted to gather in the summer. - Margy
ReplyDeleteVery cool, Patrick! That trail looks so beautiful! Thanks for sharing and linking up.

"Plunge" - that's such a cool name for an aquatic area. Love it.
