Just me and my adventures in life. Life is an adventure and I try to have fun. I love being out in the world, taking pictures and being able to share them with people who come across my little space on the internet.
Thanks for stopping by and peace be with you.
Back in my misspent youth, Bloom County was one of my favorite cartoons. Lately, I have been going on Amazon and buying the books at cheap prices. Not good for me as I love Opus, Cutter John and Bill the Cat. Even after all these years, I still Bloom County and its successor to it Outland:
These books are always a great way to relax and it the stress go.
I love quirky, strange places. The kiddos and I found a place called The Music Store in the West Portal section of San Francisco and trust me this place is quirky but super cool. They have two floors and everything you can want in a used music store:
From the second floor
Did I mention they have everything:
Got to have laserdiscs (I had to explain to the kiddos)
Got to love 8-tracks
Just when you thought you had seen everything:
Part of the Russian collection
And finally they make notebooks out of album covers:
I did get this one
On a scale of 1-10 for quirky and fun-The Music Shop in San Francisco rates about a 11.
Going to have a little Oscar fun on this Music Monday. Instead of winners or even nominated, I am going to play some great tunes that the Academy gave no love to. Here some songs that were never nominated for an Academy Award but are great:
From Saturday Night Fever-"Stayin' Alive":
From A Hard Day's Night-"A Hard Day's Night":
From Goldfinger-"Goldfinger":
From The Breakfast Club: "Don't You Forget About Me":
From Space Jam: "I Believe I Can Fly":
From A City of Angles: "Iris:
And to me the biggest All-Time Snub, from Rush: "Tears in Heaven":
But at these songs are not snubbed here but given a lot of love.
The other day, I had a little time to kill. I saw a sign for a place called Atomic Living in Downtown Hayward and decided to go in. It really just opened this month and it is a place that specializes in vintage housewares, furniture and such from the 1940's to the 1960's. I didn't buy anything but i would love to as they have come cool stuff:
The place is cool and I will be getting some stuff from there for my house.
Moe's Books in Berkeley is one of the cooler places. It is huge-Four floors of books and it has been around for over 55 years. It is a cool place to spend a little time and it has books all over the place:
And some really cool books:
And it is just cool:
On this trip I only got one book:
Moe's is an institution on Telegraph and one of the best bookstores you will ever go.
