I included the lyrics to "King Without A Crown" (below):
This last one might seem a little strange but I feel that Taylor Swift is talking about Matthew 25:13 and saying that we need to keep our eyes open for God and opportunities to be treat others nicely:
Hope everyone has a great week.
Patrick,
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing like composing a mewsic post on Sunday to bring out one's faith, especially when it also coincides with Easter. I think song lyrics are open to the listeners interruption on how it stirs the heart. According to Wikipedia Swift wrote this song for "The Hunger Games" production. I'm not real good when it comes to Bible verse memorization, so I looked up Matthew 25:13 (KJV) which speaks of no one knowing the hour of Jesus' return. Swift's lyrics really don't make me think of this passage but this verse certainly could imply what you're connecting with...
Everybody's waiting
Everybody's watching
Even when you're sleeping
Keep your ey-eyes open

I like Midge Ure. If only all would listen to those lyrics. XTC had a different but lovely song titled "Dear God." Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSuch powerful and uplifting songs! I can see how listening can help you find your way during the "down" days. They're all new to me songs, but of course I am familiar with most of the artists. Thank you for sharing!

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing at Creative Mondays. Hope you can join us today.
These are perfect choices for Easter! Lauryn Hill was so young and I had forgotten the duet with Whitney and Mariah. Thank you for sharing with us at Celebrate Your Story and have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteLove love LOVE your selections, Patrick! Very uplifting! And I love your take on Taylor Swift's song! Thanks so much for the dance! :)
ReplyDeleteThe Midge Ure song immediately made me think of "Dear God" by XTC (as did Cathy above, apparently). The Whitney Houston/Mariah Carey duo from Prince of Egypt was AMAZING.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your list
