Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcala

Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcala was the first Franciscan Mission in The Californias which was a province of New Spain. The mission was founded on July 16th, 1769 by Fr. Junipero Serra:

Mission Basilica San Diego de Acala is one of most beautiful of Missions that I have seen. It was really nice to visit there on such a beautiful day.

  34. Such a beautiful mission. I am always a bit fascinated by them as we learn NOTHING about the missions here on the east coast. If not for bloggers like you and a few family & friends who have moved out there I wouldn't know anything about them.
