Music Monday: Trying to Do a Crossover

Music Monday: For this Music Monday, I am going to try to play some songs that are what are called "Crossover Songs", which are musical works or performers who appeal to different types of audiences. In the United States, it more defined by appearing on two or more of the record charts that track differing musical styles or genres. Here it goes:

From Latin/Tejano to Numner #1 on the Pop Charts:

From Metal to Number #1 on the Pop Charts:

From a collaboration between pop (Freddie Mercury) and a Soprano Montserrat Caballe:

From purely Christian to Number 1 on the Pop Charts:

From Pop to Country:

Hope you enjoyed this attempt to crossover and have a wonderful Monday.

  1. Real good job with this one, Patrick!

  2. Patrick,

Selena's song and the duet between Freddie Mercury & Montserrat Caballe were new-to-me. I enjoyed the introduction very much. All of you other picks I knew quite well each flashing me back to various points throughout my life. I remember the stir Amy Grant's crossover caused. :) Thanks for sharing in the fun with the 4M gang today, my friend!

  3. Patrick

I really enjoyed watching the duet with Freddie Mercury. You picked some really great crossover tunes here today.

  4. I never considered Pink Floyd metal but rather art rock. They started as a psychedelic band with Syd Barrett. Good choices.

  5. Great pickins' my friend. Just got back from being at a wedding in Indiana. Dang, a 4 hr. drive... anyway trying to play catch up and get everyone commented on. I posted my 4M because the way I did it it didn't Post. Dang, I so gotta learn how to do that correctly! I had Freddie Mercury too! Love that you got Olivia Newton John... I forgot about her. Great job. YOU'VE ROCKED THE HOUSE MY FRIEND AND YOU GOT SOME REALLY GOOD ONES HERE TOO! HUGS

  6. Who I have had not heard these songs for a while. My Dad always used to play Freddie Mercury songs so I can remember when this one came out. My Son is in Barcelona as I type :)Thanks for sharing at Creative Mondays.

  7. Thanks to this theme, I've heard Freddie Mercury sing opera, which he did in a totally amazing style. I had forgotten about Olivia Newton John's song. Yes, isn't it amazing hearing some of these crossovers? I hope you had a wonderful week.

  8. As always you did an awesome job choosing awesome songs, Patrick! Loved them all! Thanks for the dance! :)

Love hearing comments on stuff. Please tell me what you think of the places I have been to. If you like them or not. I love comments.
