The Birth of Psychedelic Posters

The 1960's were a interesting time and the music reflected the era.  The social media of the time were the posters that were plastered on telephone polls, empty buildings, storefronts, etc. The Haight Street Art Gallery had an exhibit based on the birth of these posters

Bill Graham was a music promoter who along with Chet Helms led the so-called San Francisco music movement during this time.

This is the first poster that Bill Graham had done:

As time went on, Graham started working with local artists to develop the psychedelic look of the posters

It was really cool seeing the birth of a whole movement and these posters are so very cool.

I keep telling my boys to pay attention. They are witnessing a lot in history right now.

  6. I've always thought those psychedelic posters were fun, and of course I have seen many of them on display at the Fillmore and at Amoeba Records.

  10. Very cool, indeed. I love concert posters and find it such a treat to come across printed versions of present shows since everything is largely done online. Awesome round up here!
