The San Francisco Library has an exhibit by Jinyuan Shi. In 2020, Shi at the age of 79 moved into a Senior apartment in Oakland and met a woman named Mrs. Cai. Mrs. Cai (who was in her 90's)made triangular craft works. He learned some of basics from Mrs. Cai and then started to make his own craft works and it became his hobby. He spends three to five hours a day on making new works. He designs and makes all of the art himself:

I think that Shi's art is cool and it gives me hope that I will be able to find a new craft as I get older.

New Wave Posters of the 80's

 

 I went to a book talk at the San Francisco Public Library for a book called "Disturbing the Peace". It is about the rise of 415 Records and the rise of the new wave scene in San Francisco during the late 70's to the mid 80's. What is cool is that I came of age during this time and really got into music during these years. I hung out (as an under-age teen, they really didn't check ID's like now) at some of the places they talk about in the book

What was even cooler was that they had some of the original vintage concert posters. Wow, these brought back memories:

It was so very cool reliving part of my mis-spent youth and I did buy the book and it is a good read.

Happy Lunar New Year

 

I am a couple of days early (as Lunar New Year is the 22nd) but I wanted to be first to wish everyone a wonderful Year of the Rabbit. 

I went to the Chinese Flower Fair in San Francisco's Chinatown. The fair is held the week before the Lunar New Year so that families can purchase their holiday plants, flowers and fruits. It is fun, festive time:

And I had to walk around Chinatown:

And make a visit to the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Company:

And got to see the artwork at the new Rose Pak Central Subway Station:

And I hope all your dream come true in the Year of the Rabbit:

Music Monday: Music with Funko Pops

 

Was re-organizing my bookshelves (i.e. making them look half-way decent) and decided to display some of my Funko Pop figures. Here are the music ones and some songs to support them:

A Visit to Lands End

 

Before the storms came here in the San Francisco Bay Area, I took a visit to Lands End. I need to see some water and waves as the new year came in:

I am so luck to live near a body of water like the Pacific Ocean and the San Francisco Bay.
