Valley of Fire State Park-Part I

I was gone all weekend. Out enjoying myself and taking pics. I went to Las Vegas. While in Vegas, I went to Valley of Fire State Park. It is one of the most impressive places I have ever seen. Its rock formations include limestones, shales, and conglomerates. Prehistoric users of the Valley of Fire included the Basket Maker people and later the Anasazi Pueblo farmers from the nearby fertile Moapa Valley.

I took so many pics that I need to break this into two parts to share;

And we ran into this guy:

Valley of Fire State Park is truly a treasure that needs to be seen by all.

  5. I have been to Vegas, but never heard of the Valley of the Fire. It is really lovely, and the rock formations are really impressive. In the end, I had to smile at the goat, I just didn't expect to see it.

  7. Beautiful pictures. I had never heard of the Valley of Fire State Park. In India, we have the Valley of Flowers National Park in the Himalayas, where I had been to recently.It is a contrast to the Valley of Fire.

  21. The landscape out west is so stark compared to the east and because of this difference it is beautiful in its own right. One day, I hope we can travel out west to see some of these magnificent sites that you've shared. Great photos! Thanks for stopping by & linking up on #WW!

    1. The Valley of Fire derives its name from red sandstone formations, formed from great shifting sand dunes during the age of dinosaurs, 150 million years ago. I copied from the website.

      Thanks.

  25. It's so beautiful - it's almost like art isn't it. And most people probably just think of casinos when they think of Vegas. I would definitely feel lucky to get some shots here.
