A Walk Around UNLV

One thing I really enjoy is walking around different college campuses and seeing what is there. For all the many times, I have been to Las Vegas I have never walked around UNLV. I have been to a bunch of games at the Thomas and Mack Center (Home of UNLV basketball) but I last time I was there I decided to take some time and see the campus. It was a wonderful walk and it is a very nice campus to stroll around:

The Harry Reid Center for Environmental Studies

Beam Hall-Home of the Lee Business School and Harrah College of Hotel Administration
Greenspan Hall-College of Urban Affairs
Dedicated to those who established UNLV
The Flora Dungan Humanities building
Beverly Rodgers Literature and Law Building
The Pascal Rose Garden
"An Affair of the Heart"
In honor of those who have served
"The Flashlight"
Howard Hughes College of Engineering
"The Cube" representing the many faces of engineering
And here is some of the Lied Library:

UNLV is a newish University, it opened in 1957, but it is a beautiful campus to take a stroll in or if you just want get away from the Strip.

UNLV mascot Hey Ree

  1. Walking around campuses is very interesting! And I love your pics of the structures and the mascot too.

  2. Interesting places and statues...Thanks for sharing with us!

  3. This is cool! I think it's great that universities have great sculptures often.

I like to walk around state capitols. I'm not a government person, but the buildings are old, big, full of artwork, and important.

  4. You get to go so many cool places! Lucky you!

  5. It's been years since I was in Las Vegas and I've never gone to the university. Looks like a wonderful place to explore.

  6. Looks like a great campus! I like the curved inside one best.

  7. Glad to know I'm not the only one that enjoys exploring college campuses. I always love seeing the art and architecture of a place. What inspired your visit to UNLV?

  8. Once Upon A Time...I very much wanted to be in the college of engineering at UNLV...but, I've never seen the campus because that "visit" wasn't in the parent's budget from Ohio. :) And scholarships led me to other Ohio..:) At least I've now seen the building! :)

  9. Patrick, the statue honoring those who served reminds me of statue they have at the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford Virginia that we visited last June. Nice collection of photos! Have a good day, my friend!

  10. What a beautiful campus with lots of nice sculptures and statues. I would love to visit Las Vegas someday.

  11. Love our little walk around campus. Great sculptures and such sites. Thanks for sharing our trip because I always feel like I'm right there with you looking at such wondrous sites. hugs

  12. Thanks for the photo intro to UNLV. That was enjoyable.

  13. I did not get out to the campus when I visited Las Vegas two years ago but I have heard the campus is lovely. Really great shots of the sculptures.

  14. Ha ha, check out that mascot! That is cool. Thanks for showing me around :)

  15. That's what I call unordinary architecture!

  16. I love how it has all the interesting architecture, but it also uses the natural spaces for other art forms and memorials. That's a great diverse landscape for young people to be immersed in. wonderful.

  17. Lovely pictures Patrick, thanks for the tour. I would love to visit!

Thanks for sharing at the Wednesday Blog Hop.

Love hearing comments on stuff. Please tell me what you think of the places I have been to. If you like them or not. I love comments.
