The Year of the Rooster

This is kind of two posts rolled into one. The first part is the display at the San Francisco Public Library (SFPL) had of Chinese New Year memorabilia, some of it traditional and some not but all designed to bring a festive feel to the SFPL and start the New Lunar Year on a happy note.

The second part is a display across the street in front of City Hall:

Here is the second part:

I hope everybody has a great Year of the Rooster.

  4. I love masks! I have a small collection of wooden masks (that is packed and kept back in India because you can't move it with you every time you move!)

  10. I love the detail and design elements in the dragon, Patrick. Thanks for always giving us a tour of the many cultural festivals, sights and sounds of San Francisco and beyond. It's one of my favorite cities and I loved visiting Chinatown when I was there many years ago.

  11. Patrick, I was thought the paper lantern (you know the kind that float upward before falling to the ground) are neat and I think it would be awesome to see those in the night sky. Some of the costume headpieces are really neat. It seems when I was little I remember seeing Chinese dragons in a televised parade which fascinated me. Great photo gallery. Thanks for sharing!

  18. I love how you capture the beauty all around you. I would never think to take pictures at the public library even though they have some pretty cool stuff there. I wish I had a photographers mindset to capture moments. I literally hardly ever take pictures. I usually regret it later. Any tips on how to be better at remembering my camera when I am out and about? Thanks for sharing with us at Sitting Among Friends every week.
