One of the best-known tourist sites in San Francisco sits on the block of 710 through 720 Steiner Street across from Alamo Square Park. The houses on the block are known as the "The Painted Ladies" or "Postcard Row". The houses were built between 1892 and 1896 by developer Matthew Kavanaugh. The so-called ladies have been used in much media including different movies, TV programs and ads:
The Painted Ladies are a part of San Francisco and I hope that they stay for another hundred years.
They really are beautiful! I love wandering and looking at older architecture, and often dream a little about what life would have been like living way back when. Every house has a history. I hope these have a happy one.
