Music Monday: It is A Racing Deal

The month of May leads up to the Sunday before Memorial Day and one of the best days in racing with FI hosting the Grand Prix of Monaco, followed by the biggest spectacle in sports - The Indy 500 and that is followed by NASCAR's longest night which is the Coke Cola 600. Not a bad day of racing. Here are some songs to get you revved up on this Music Monday:

The Theme From Formula 1:

If you know about racing then you know the great Mario Andretti hails from Nazareth, PA and learned how drive at the Nazareth Speedway:

A little Patrick trivia- One of my all time favorite movies is the documentary called "1" which is about the safety history of Formula 1 racing, here is the song used in the final of the movie:

Call me a sucker for tradition but this would give me chills and he would sing it before the Indy 500 from 1972 to 2014 and here is his last time singing it:

I am a little bit of a race nerd. Hope everyone has a wonderful week.

  2. I'm not a huge fan of racing. DH enjoys NASCAR. At times like that I just pull out my iPad and do a little sketching. As long as we're together that's all that matters to me. :) Jim Nabor had a great voice. His singing voice is such a contrast to his Gomer Pyle talking voice, isn't it? I remember the first time I heard him sing. I was floored. :) Thanks for hitting the dance floor, my friend. Have a boogietastic week!

  6. Just Drive and Formula One were my favorites here. Although I don't follow racing, I have been to the Daytona Racetrack (not for a race day) and it was enjoyable. Also, I'm sentimental enough to appreciate the ending of the Jim Nabors singing Back Home in Indiana tradition.
