A Latin Lectionary

Somebody at work brought in a Latin Lectionary that was published in 1947. Being Catholic I thought it was really cool and interesting. He was nice enough to let me snap a few pics of it. I will translate some but not all:

The Lectionary

Epistle to the Gospel (top).  The whole year (bottom)
The front page
The mass in honor of the Feast Day of Corpus Christi
Music from the book. Notice that the music notes are square. This the way they did originally back in Middle Ages
The Feast Days for August. Die means Day.
The Gospel Mass for the Feast Days of Decemeber
I thought it very cool to look at this Lectionary.

A Visit to America's Cup Park

About a month ago, I took the kiddos down to the America's Cup Park on Piers 27 and 29 in San Francisco as they were hosting the Louis Vuitton Cup which decides the challenger for the America's Cup. San Francisco did a great job in constructing the America's Cup Park into a place where non-sailing fans can come and have a good time. I am not a sailing person but I enjoyed myself there. There is a lot to see, drink, eat and you can watch the races in style. I know that the America's Cup is ending but it was pretty cool having it on our day:

An America's Cup buoy on the Bay
People enjoying some food and drink
Some Napa Valley drink
People enjoying the action on the big screen
This is a record that chronicles the 1983 Cup that Australia won. Becoming the first non-USA team to win it
The hull of a ship on display

Got to like the coffee that cheers

Mariner Hall Of Fame

In April when I visited Seattle and Safeco Field, I found the Mariners Hall of Fame in the main concourse behind the home plate area. I thought WOW what a great concept and great idea and I was not disappointed. It told the history of the Seattle Mariners, Seattle Pilots and the history of baseball in the Northwest:

The lineup card from the night Ichrio broke George Sisler's single season hit record and jersey from the game (below)

Ken Griffey Jr.'s 1995 Jersey
Mariner Bats (from left): Jay Buhner, Ken Griffey Jr, Edgar Martinez, Willie Hortonm Adrian Beltre
Lou Piniella's 1969 Seattle Pilot Road Uniforn
Mike Hegan's 1969b Seattle Pilot Home Uniform-I love both the home and road uniform
Home Plate from Sicks Stadium-home of the Seattle Pilots and Seattle Rainiers
A bench from Sicks Stadium
George Archer's 1940 Seattle Rainiers jersey
Harold Reynolds 1988 Gold Glove Award

The Mariner Hall of Fame is really cool and I love the fact that it is inside the ballpark. Next time you are at Safeco Field take a look-it is free.

Eating Healthy in Sacramento-Jack's Urban Eats

I am trying to get better about eating. I was up in Sacramento and went to Jack's Urban Eats instead of a burger joint. It is located near downtown. They have a pretty healthy menu and the prices were good:

The inside of Jack's
Food being cooked to order
Chicken being carved
An order of sour cream fries-Somebody I was with ordered it as I hate sour cream
My salad
My steak sandwich
Jack's was very good. A good healthy alternative to fast food.

A Little Look at Holy Names University

Went on another college tour of Holy Names University in Oakland with my daughter. It is not the most photogenic college around but it had some views of the Bay Area and a great Chapel:

The view from Holy Names

The front of the Valley Center for Preforming Arts
A view of the main building
The inside of the dining hall
As I said I thought the Chapel was great:

This was back window
This is where the Holy Water comes out to bless yourself
I really liked Holy Names and I would be proud if any of my kiddos went there. It is a small but beautiful campus in the Oakland Hills.

A Delorean at Santa Cruz

I will admit these are a little old. About a year ago or so, I was at Santa Cruz getting ready to leave and up come rolling some Deloreans, the coolest car ever made. I was going through some pic files and I decided to share these because they are so cool. Where is Marty McFly when you need him:

If I ever win the lotto, lo.
