Thank You to the Green and Gold

 Another year of Oakland A's baseball has come and gone. Even though the team didn't make the playoffs this year, I am still happy to have a hometown team to root. I was just thinking and it is crazy that it was 40 years ago that the 12-year-old me hopped on the BART by himself and went to an A's game by himself. Wow: 

The last game of the year I went to was a great game as the A's pulled it out in the bottom of the ninth, sadly Elvis Andrus who scored the winning run fractured his left fibula on the play.

I love the A's and I hope a new ballpark will be built for the team and they stay in Oakland. They are my team and always will be.

The Dahlia Garden

 

In Golden Gate Park is a garden called the Dahlia Garden. The Dahlia is the official flower of San Francisco:

It is a beautiful and colorful part of the park.

A Summer Dinner and Then a Walk in The Park

 

When I visited my daughter in Portland, we went for dinner and a walk in the park near her house. It was really cool. 

First up was dinner at a place called Portland Sports Bar and Grill and it was outstanding:

And South Waterfront Park is right there, so we walked it:

And what is really cool are these sayings that are embedded in the concrete as you are walking done by school children:

It was just a really nice and peaceful time.

Music Monday: Songs for the Fashionistas

Bodega Bay Oyster Company

 I was with some friends and we driving up the coast and they wanted to stop at the Bodega Bay Oyster Company. It isn't my thing since I am allergic to all things that live in the sea, but I went inside and checked it out:

The people I was with loved their oysters and I was stuck with some garlic bread that was really good:

The Work of Tea Lautrec Litho

 

Tea Lautrec Litho was one of the those San Francisco Bay Area places that has been lost to history by most. The Haight Street Art Center in San Francisco has a great exhibit to educate people on how influential Tea Lautrec Litho  was to Bay Area history.

Tea Lautrec Litho was founded by Levon Mosgofian who was a master printer who spent over five decades in the business. 

Here is some of his early work done by Mosgofian before he founded Tea Lautrec Litho:

After Tea Lautrec Litho was found, it became known for printing those great rock posters of the late 60's-early 70's during the vibrant San Francisco music scene of that era:

He printed over 200 posters for the great concert promoter Bill Graham:

Tea Lautrec Litho printed so many other things besides rock posters:

This one was so iconic for people growing up in my era in the San Francisco Bay Area. If you had a hoodie or sweatshirt you were so cool.

Sadly.  Tea Lautrec Litho closed in 1994 after Levon Mosgofian passed away in San Francisco that same year, taking a part of San Francisco's colorful history with it.
