Celebrating the Pier 39 Sea Lions

Since 1990, a colony of Sea Lions has called Pier 39 home. They arrived shortly after the 1989 Earthquake and didn't leave. The Pier 39 area is perfect for them as there is a great food supply and no natural predators. So here is to 35 years of the Pier 39 Sea Lions.

And the population rises and falls with the seasons. They are always there:

The Pier 39 Sea Lions are amazing to see and I am happy to that they have a home there. Hopefully, this colony will be there for the next 35 years.

When the World is Watching

The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) had a small exhibit featuring some  Olympic artifacts that are artistic in nature:

The blueprint layout for the 1972 Olympic Village in Munich

2024 Paris Water Dancer Poster

2008 Australia Olympic Jacket

2012 Team USA Catamaran Model

1964 Tokyo Event Artist Book

2016 ParaOlympic Racing Wheelchair

It was really cool, seeing this exhibit. I enjoy all of these pieces and they are all art.

Bringing the Community Together and a Fan Fest

The Last Dive Bar (an organization that celebrates the Oakland Coliseum and baseball-They took their name from the Oakland Coliseum which was known as the MLB's "Last Dive Bar") hosted a  Fan Fest on Saturday. It was more than about baseball, it was about community and coming together:

Ice Berg Plants from the Oakland Coliseum

And there was food and music:

And former A's players signing

Daulton Jefferies and Steven Piscotty

Jemile Weeks and Miguel Tejada

But more importantly it was about community and there were at lot of local, small businesses that represented:

Mitch's Hot Works (Great Hot Sauce)

Feral Unicorn Snack Emporium

Artist Guy Sliwinski

Sayra Reyes Art

The Oakland Ballers Fan Fest was a great time, even if you don't like baseball. It was basically a giant block party in Oakland and you can see the community come together and enjoy the day and each other.
