Sea Lion Love

At the tourist trap known as Pier 39 in San Francisco they had an exhibit celebrating the 30 years of  Sea Lions "residency" at Pier 39. They asked local artists to paint six-foot high Sea Lion statues and they placed them around Pier 39:

And of course I need to include the real Sea Lions:

It was a real cool exhibit

  1. That's quite a variety of artistry. Some are gorgeous, some are interesting (read: weird) but all are colorful. Except, of course, the real ones that are just adorable :)

  4. I've visited only once, and the sea lions certainly were interesting to watch and listen to their sounds. Glad they celebrate them. :)

  5. I love the different interpretations Patrick. We have cows done like this throughout the SW of Western Australia and it's always fun to come across one. Wouldn't it be great if they raffled them off for garden statues!
Thanks for linking up with us at MLSTL and I've shared on my SM 😊

  6. I've enjoyed seeing your pics on social media. I'm not sure what I enjoy more, your pics of the art or the real thing! I also think it's a fabulous way to showcase local artists. Thanks for linking and commenting on Amanda's Books and More!

  10. I love it. In Setúbal (a city to the south of Lisbon) they made something similar but with dolphins instead of sea lions and we also love to visit.
Thank you for sharing at The Really Crafty Link Party and have a wonderful week.

  16. How cool is this! These statues are so cute but not as cute as the real sea lions. I mean, who doesn’t love sea lions?!
