The Aria Resort

I was in Vegas over Thanksgiving week and went to a bunch of places. One of the newer places on the strip is the Aria casino and resort. It is a beautiful place to walk around:

The outside is great to see the different views:

By Henry Moore
But inside is even better:

Love this view from the second story. The floor pattern is wonderful
But coolest thing was seeing all the wonderful stuff that Jean Philippe Patisserie has made with chocolate:

In honor of Cirque de Soleil show that is there

and my favorite two pieces in chocolate:

and the ultimate:

The Aria is a nice place to walk around and see what is there.

Music Monday: Driving in the Desert

Desert Road Trip Songs. I drove from the Bay Area to Las Vegas and back in the last week and in the desert I really can't get any talk radio, so I cranked up the CD and heard these tunes (heard more but I like these):

A strange mix but it kept me alert and good.

Peggy Sue's Diner-Saur Park

I am back (not that anybody missed me) after a week off. On my drive back from Las Vegas, I passed by this really cool place. It was a 50's diner,I didn't eat there, but I did discover this cool park behind it called Peggy Sue's Diner-Saur Park:

It was a nice surprise on my long drive home.

The Historical Niles Depot

I got a chance to visit the Niles Depot Historical Foundation. It is a train museum located in the Niles section of Fremont, Ca. Sorry, I lost my notes so I can't describe everything for you:

It was cool to see how the railroad played a huge roll in this community.

The 1915 Panama-Pacific Expo

The San Francisco Main Library had a cool exhibit reflecting the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition. This Expo was one of the things that brought back San Francisco from the great 1906 Earthquake. The library had a lot of treasures from it:

It is amazing that of these artifacts from the Expo  has survived in great condition 100 years. It was amazing to see.
