Petco Park 2018

When I was in San Diego, I took in a Padres game at Petco Park. I blogged about it in 2015, when I went for the first time but decided to some newer pics and share what I think is the most beautiful park in America again:

And the same view at night:

San Diego's Petco Park is a lovely ballpark and I love going there. The cool thing was that I had my son on this trip:

From the Teachers Closet Book Launch

This is a completely personal post by me. Wayne Siligo has been the music teacher at the California School for the Blind (CSB) for almost forty years. I have been working there for almost 22 years. Wayne was one of the first people to befriend me when I started there and we have remained good friends since then. Wayne is an amazing person. He is a very talented musician who can play 23 instruments, he arranges and writes music, he is a great businessman and one of the best music teachers around. Oh, I forgot that Wayne is totally blind. He started to lose his vision when he was a child and by the time he was an adult he was totally blind.

Anyway, Wayne wrote an inspirational book about his years of teaching blind students how to play different instruments and had a book launch party at the Fremont library where he and the Wayward Trio (Wayne, David and Marcus (who was a student of mine)) played music and Wayne talked about the book:

It was a beautiful afternoon of music and story telling. I am so glad that I was able to attend and even happier that I have been  honored with the privilege of calling Wayne Siligo a friend for over 20 years.

The large print version of the book. Shameless plug-The book is available on Amazon

Welcome to Mission San Jose

Mission San Jose was fourteenth of the 21 Spanish Missions in California and was founded on June 11,1797 by Father Fermin Francisco de Lasuen.  Mission San Jose is not in San Jose but 13 miles north in Fremont,Ca. The site of which Mission San Jose is in was part of a natural highway between the Livermore Valley and the San Joaquin Valley.

Despite what has been written in many books the mission is not Mission San Jose de Guadalupe, when the mission was founded it was named La Mission del Gloriosisimo Patriarch San Jose in honor of St. Joseph. The connection between the city of San Jose and the Mission San Jose is that they were both named for St. Joseph:

The Mission has one of better old cemeteries:

Inside the church is the burial site of Don Roberto Livermore who the city of Livermore is named for
Mission San Jose is a  great place and I am lucky that I live near it.

Random Pics Of Las Vegas

I was going through my phone and found these pics I had from my multiple visits from Las Vegas in the last six months:

Outside the Wynn Hotel
Inside the Wynn Hotel

Elvis' jumpsuit

The Harrah's
At Hershey's World in New York, New York
The pool at Green Valley Ranch
Outside the Red Rock Casino
The Smith Center
I went to this place on Fremont Street called the Heart Attack Grill to eat. It was an interesting experience:

I got the basic chili dog
The guy next to me got this. The five patty burger
This is truly what happens when you don't finish your food there.
I am not really a night Vegas person but here are some shots:

Las Vegas is always an interesting place and things to see:
