Celebrating the Negro Leagues

Kansas City Monarchs

As the baseball season is coming to a close, I found these pictures from a Negro League exhibit at Dodger Stadium. These are jerseys from Negro League teams:

Homestead Grays

New York Cubans

Cleveland Buckeyes

Newark Eagles

Indianapolis Clowns

The Negro Leagues are big part of baseball history and we must never forget them.

An Alternative Way Home

The Western Part of the Bay Bridge

Last Friday, BART (our subway) was having major issues. Basically, the system had electrical problems and the tube that connects San Francisco and the East Bay was out of service. So I had to find a different way home. I decided to take the ferry and it was a nice and relaxing trip:

And you go by the Port of Oakland:

It was a nice alternative way home:

Angkor-The Lost Empire of Cambodia

When I was at the California Science Museum in Los Angeles, I was able to see the exhibit- Angkor-The Lost Empire of Cambodia. Angkor was the capital of the Khmer Kingdom which lasted from 9th to the 15th century. By the late 16th century, it was no more and experts have been trying to figure out what happened. It was really cool to see artifacts from it:

It was really cool to see this and learn about Angkor.

Music Monday: Has It Been 30 Years

Music Monday: Just some songs from 1992:

And because of the movie Wayne's World, this classic found a whole new audience:

It is amazing that thirty years have gone by since these songs where hits.

Walking the Inner Sunset

The middle school I teach at had a baseball game at Big Rec in Golden Gate Park and I took the bus after school there the other day. I took the wrong bus and had to get off and walk down 9th Ave or the Inner Sunset to get to Big Rec. It was a great walk:

The best part was that I was able to go to one of my favorite Ice Places and get some ice cream for the game:

It was a nice walk and very enjoyable.

It is the Flower Piano

I went over to the San Francisco Botanical Garden for Flower Piano. Flower Piano is really cool because they put pianos over the Gardens and anybody (if there isn't a scheduled performance for that piano) can hop on play. There are a lot of scheduled performances for the different pianos. The cool thing is that it makes for a wonderful day of listening:

And here was how the vibe was with Dawn Oberg on piano:
