Get a Food Spark at Sparky's Diner

Sparky's Diner is a little diner that I found by accident on Church St. in San Francisco. It is a quirky place but has great food and a wonderful vibe:

He welcomes you
It has a lot of 80's tunes on it
Part of Sparky's
Margaret Cho likes Sparky's
The Mummy
The States
The food being cooked
Lunch is served and it was yummy

SFPL Presents Creativity Explored Bookworks

In the window of the main library in San Francisco, they have an unique display. It is called Bookworks. It is done by the group Creativity Explored, who provide artists with developmental disabilities the means to create, exhibit, and sell their art in our studios and gallery, and around the world. This display highlighted the books that some the clients have created:

"Fears of Your Life"-Michael Loggins
"Whipper Snapper Nerd, Issue Number Five"-Ricky Nelson Jr
"Creepy Creatures in the Month of October"-Michael Loggins
"Headlines"-Douglas Sheran
"Learning to Walk"-Thomas Pringle
"The Enterprise Incident"-Ming Choi
I thought that the display was pretty cool and look forward to seeing some more.

A Visit to Mission San Juan Bautista

While taking my daughter back to college a couple of weeks ago, we decided to make a side trip to Mission San Juan Bautista. I had never been there before. We had a stunning and crisp day for our visit:

Statue of St.Luke

Statue of Fr.Junipero Sierra

Mission San Juan Bautista was a great side trip. It is so lovely and I am glad that it still functions as a working church.

Shot glasses and 46

This is not about drinking or anything. I am getting older and about to turn 46. In May, my son will graduate high school and that means both of my kids are adults and I am four years away from my AARP discounts and  if things go right I have less than a decade to work (I will always work but for the full-time deal).

Anyway, enough of that boring stuff. I have been collecting shot glasses in my travels. I read it somewhere and I decided to do it. I think it is neat. Sometimes I forget to get one and I do have rule, I must be out of the airport to get one:

Some call it goofy but it is simple and I like. The funny thing is that I don't have any from the two cities that I live near and go to all the time-Oakland and San Francisco. Maybe I should get one from each place. Hopefully, I can add to this collection in the coming year.

Do Some Book Digging at Aardvark Books

Aardvark Books in San Francisco is one of the coolest used bookstores around. It just has the coolest vibe of any used bookstore in the City and it is wall-to-wall books:

I ended up getting two books in this visit:

R.Crumb is one of my favorite cartoonists
"Class A Baseball in the Middle of Everywhere" is about a reporter who spent the 2010 season with the Clinton Lumber Kings. Great book so far

Aardvark Books is a great place to spend some time and get some cool books.
