A couple of weeks ago, I went to the Hayward Bike Festival. It included a vintage BMX Show, bike rodeo, free bike repairs and much more:

It was a great time and the city did a good job for their first Bike Festival

Music Monday: Memorial Day 2016

On this Memorial Day Music Monday, we are going to try to honor those who have protected us and to try to say thanks to those who have died doing so:

Going to include this last song. It is from an organization called "Playing for Change", I have highlighted them before but they believe that music can break down the barriers and boundaries between us and hopefully there is not a need to war. Anyway, This is their newest song and the brief appearance of the Tim Robbins part (two different ones) is at an elementary school in the city I have spent 40 of my 47 years in and was "Made In" (went to school from K through graduation of four-year university in) - Hayward, Ca:

Please say a prayer for all of our service people.

Powning Vetrerans Memorial Park

In Downtown Reno, there is the Powning Veterans Memorial Park. It is dedicated to all the citizens of Nevada who have served in our military and who have died while serving our country:

During your busy weekend, please take a minute out and say a prayer for all servicemen and women.

I had a friend tell me about something called Goop MRKT, it partly owned by the actress Gwyneth Paltrow and mostly operates online. Sometimes they do have "pop-up" stores like the one they had in San Francisco for a couple of weeks in May. It was housed in a building that was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright:

Goop goods are really nice and for the high-end crowd:

It really nice to see Goop MKRT

Music Monday: No.1's from the late 50's/Early 60's

Music Monday: We are going back in time to the late 50s' and early 60's and hopefully I can work in some Pat Boone (who deserves to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame). All songs were No.1 on the Billboard Top 40:

A note about the next one, this is the Jimmy Dean from The Jimmy Dean Meat Company:

She is better known from the 1980's show "Coach" but she could sing back in the day:

This next killed off of 78 rpm and ushered in the 45 which I grew up with:

And here is the promised Pat Boone:

Hope you enjoyed some classics.
