Walking Around Don Castro

Did a little nature walk around Don Castro in Hayward. Don Castro is a place that I grew up going to. It has fishing, trails and a lagoon for swimming. It is a great place to unwind:

Don Castro is another one of those gems we have in the Bay Area.

The Last Bookstore

The Last Bookstore in Los Angeles is one of the most amazing bookstores I have ever been to. It is California's largest used and new book and record store. It is about 22,000 square feet and evert square foot is very quirky:

Here is my video of walking the Labyrinth of the second floor:

The Last Bookstore in Los Angeles is an amazing place and a must when visiting Los Angeles.

The World of Jim Henson

I went to the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco has the the coolest exhibit going on. It is about the great puppeteer Jim Henson. Henson is famous for the creating the Muppets but he was so much more than that.

First some of his early work:

A cartoon he created in high school.

An add for Sam and Friends which ran in Washington D.C. from 1955-1961 and was the forerunner to the Muppets

And some of his ad work:

Billy and Sue puppets (1962)

Beautiful Day Puppet (1966)

Design for Rowlf the Dog who became famous on the Muppet Show but debuted on the Jimmy Dean Show in 1963

And his Sesame Street Work:

Design sketches for Bert and Erine

And the Muppet Show:

Ms. Piggy Concept Sketches

And other work he did:

Aughra- Dark Crystal

Costumes from Labyrinth

Jim Henson was a genius and made the world a better place and I was in the first generation of Sesame Street babies. I am so proud of that.

Jim Henson, Frank Oz and Jerry Nelson puppets

Blue Heaven on Earth

Baseball's All-Star Game is being played this week at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles and they are not kidding when they call it Blue Heaven on Earth. It one of the most photogenic ballparks in America and there is something to take a picture of every ten feet (Even if you are not a baseball fan). The Dodgers celebrate their history very well:

The great voice of the Dodgers for 67 years

The great Sandy Koufax

Jackie Robinson

And then there is the field:

Dodger Stadium is an amazing place to watch a game and they are not lying when they say it is Blue Heaven on Earth for baseball fans:
