College Football Pregame Stroll

Oski
I went to the Cal-San Diego St football game and like many others, I took BART and walked through the campus to get to Memorial Stadium. Others park in Downtown Berkeley and do the same walk or some take BART, get off at Rockridge station and take a public bus that gets you a couple of blocks near the stadium. I think you get the picture-there is basically no parking near the stadium unlike many other stadiums.

But I did find that Cal fans will find any place to get in the spirit for the game all over campus:

Cal does sponsor a "tailgate party" at Maxwell Field (the home of Cal Field Hockey):

And people are always milling about:

and then we are ready for some Cal football:

It may not be like some of the schools down south or in the midwest but pregame for Cal is always fun and entertaining:

Life Magazine 2-24-1958

I haven't been going to any bookstores lately. Just been way to busy. I did find an old Life Magazine at a thrift store and picked it up. Back in the day, Life Magazine was the best. It was read by everybody and it had the best ads and stories. This one had a story about the Civil War by Winston Churchill, a feature on Jack Benny, a story on how to improve baseball and great ads:

And the back cover:

It is always great to take a look at what life was like over 50 years ago.

Those Oddball Pictures

Just odd photos that I have snapped that don't fit into any category:

Some interesting houses in San Francisco:

We have seven bridges in the Bay Area. Here is a look at three:

The Golden Gate Bridge in the fog

And may peace be with you:

San Jose St-New Hampshire 9-3-15

I went to San Jose St-University of New Hampshire football game at Spartan Stadium in San Jose. It was a work deal and I didn't get a chance to roam like I wanted to. San Jose St won 43-13:

A Look at Three Churches

This post will seem odd. I am combining my visits to a couple of  different churches into one blog. The first one is Mission San Rafael Arcangel. It was 20th mission in the California Mission System. The only thing left is the old chapel:

The main church-built in 1817, rebuilt in 1930

Next is Mission Santa Cruz. I got there too late to go to the visitors center but was able to attend mass inside the newer church:

Finally there is a St. Leander's in San Leandro:
