Susan Slusser Book Talk

I got the privilege of hearing Oakland A's S.F. Chronicle beat writer Susan Slusser discuss her book "100 Things A's Fans Should Know & Do Before They Die." Slusser was great in talk and the Q&A was dynamite. The book is really good also:

I love author events and Slusser was one of the best.

Welcome to Downtown Davis, Ca

 Davis, California from the outside looks like it is dominated by UC-Davis but walking in the center of town you will find that it is an interesting place to stroll its small downtown:

Straiation By Jamie Treacy at Betti Ono

I was walking in Downtown Oakland waiting for a book reading the other day and I came by the Betti Ono Gallery and decided to step in. They had an exhibition by Oakland based artist Jamie Treacy. Treacy works in mixed media paintings and is a high school art teacher at Skyline High School in Oakland:

I had never heard of Treacy before stumbling upon this Gallery. I like his work.

Bay Area Book Festival

We had the Bay Area Book Festival over the weekend. It was held in Downtown Berkeley and it was was awesome. They had a lot of local writers, local book presses,book stores and free book giveaways out. They also had a lot of forums and places to meet different writers. It was a really cool event:

I had two highlights. The first was meeting and getting to talk to Dave Zirin who has written many of  the"People's History" books.:

The second was going to a forum by Peter Coyote and then getting to meet him afterword. That was super cool:

The Bay Area Book Festival was super. This was the first one I hope there are many more.
