What?? Books at Giants Fanfest

I went to San Francisco Giants Fan Fest and guess what-I ended up with a couple of autographed books. Huh???  The Giants were nice enough to let a couple of local authors sell their books at Fan Fest and of course I had to get the books and get them signed.

The first one I got is called "Getaway Day" by Ken White. It is fiction with a huge touch of reality in it. It is about the relationship of a child and his dying father and trying to make his father's wish come true. It also is a look at Modesto in 1962. White does a great job in taking the events of the three-day rain delay in the 1962 World Series between the New York Yankees and the San Francisco Giants and weaving through the book:

The second one is "Instant Baseball" by Brad Mangin. The book is based on the photos of Sports Illustrated photographer Mangin. It is his journey of the 2012 season on Instagram. He took all the photos on his I-Phone 4S and they are truly wonderful photos:

This proves that you will never know where you can get books.

Heroes & Hearts 2015

For the third year, I walked by Macy's in Union Square and took look at the Hearts and Heroes sculptures. The sculptures are done by local artists. The sculptures will be auctioned off on Feb. 12th at the10th annual Heroes & Hearts luncheon for the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation. The money does a lot of good in the community:

As usual in the display at Macy's they have the table-top ones that are 25lbs and then the mini-ones are five pounds. They always have the huge ones that weigh about 400lbs that are auctioned off. The table top ones usually go for six figures during the auction which is great as the money goes to hospital. Going to start with the four table-top ones:

Music Monday" Some 80's Valentine Music

Going to try to spread some love for this Valentine edition of Music Monday. These may not be the traditional love songs but I really like them and feel that they get the message across plus they are from the 80's:

I was in the heart of San Francisco and hungry. Did not want a chain, fast food or something expensive. I looked up and saw this place called homeskillet. It is a new place on Market and it is great. It is good, not expensive, independently owned and quirky:

Green Apple Books in the Park

I was out near Golden Gate Park in San Francisco and ran into a new bookstore. It is actually not new. I did a blog on Green Apple Books about two years ago, I love that place. Well, they open another store near Golden Gate Park and it is called Green Apple Books in the Park. The difference between the two stores is the new one mostly sells new books and the original sells mostly used.

I think that I will be visiting the new Green Apple Books in the Park. A bookstore and Golden Gate Park. You can't beat that.

Going to Travel Like it is 1895

At the San Juan Bautista State Historic Park, my daughter and I saw some very cool rides. Not from the 21st century or the 20th but from the 19th century. The rides were how people got around back in the day:
