Valley of Fire State Park-Part I

I was gone all weekend. Out enjoying myself and taking pics. I went to Las Vegas. While in Vegas, I went to Valley of Fire State Park. It is one of the most impressive places I have ever seen. Its rock formations include limestones, shales, and conglomerates. Prehistoric users of the Valley of Fire included the Basket Maker people and later the Anasazi Pueblo farmers from the nearby fertile Moapa Valley.

I took so many pics that I need to break this into two parts to share;

And we ran into this guy:

Valley of Fire State Park is truly a treasure that needs to be seen by all.

College Football: Cal vs. SDSU

I went to the Cal-San Diego St. game a couple of weeks ago. It was a great game as Cal beat SDSU 35-7:

San Diego St WR Chase Favreau making a catch
Cal running back Daniel Lasco high stepping

San Diego St trying to get off a play
Cal's Jared Goff getting a hello tap
SDSU's Rashaad Penny running
Cal's Cole Leiniger punting
Cal's Heisman Trophy candidate QB Jared Goff
Cal's Head Coach Sonny Dykes thinking
Cal's Vic Enwere scores
As I said it was a great game for Cal in one of the prettiest locations for a stadium:

Cal's Memorial Stadium located in Strawberry Canyon

Filipino American International Book Festival

I have been busy and haven't done much with books. Over the weekend I was able to go to the 3rd Filipino American International Book Festival. It gathers Filipino writers and artists from the Philippines and around the United States to participate in a variety of panel discussions, presentations, and reading. It is a really cool thing to attend:

And I got a book signed by a local author:

Jules Delgallego signing his book "The Brothers Luna"
The 3rd Filipino American International Book Festival was a great event to attend.

Summer Thursdays in San Rafael

Years ago, I used to go down to Downtown San Rafael Famer's Market on Thursday nights. It was a great way to spend a summer evening. I hadn't been in about seven years and learned that it has changed into a Downtown Street Party where a lot of fun is to be had:

Summer Thursday's in Downtown San Rafael is the place to have a lot of fun.

Original Disney Parks Attraction Posters

When I was at the Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco, one of the highlights for me was seeing these original attraction posters. Attraction posters were used to entice new visitors to visit certain areas of the park. In the early days, these posters lined the fence in front of the famous Mickey Mouse floral arrangement and were seen prominently in other areas of the park, whereas today, they can only be seen as you walk through the tunnels going into Disneyland:

These posters are super great. I love the artwork. It so cool to see them.
