New Heroes and Hearts

 

I was walking around Union Square in San Francisco and in the windows of Neiman Marcus were these Heroes and Hearts sculptures. I haven't seen new ones in a couple of years. I was so happy to see them. The hearts are auctioned off and the money goes to San Francisco General Hospital Foundation:

I loved seeing new hearts, I love the artistic talent that goes into each heart. 

Rare Books San Francisco

 

I got to go Rare Books San Francisco. It was a gathering of Antiquarian book dealers from all over the world:

These passes are for the funeral of Charles Darwin. The purple ones were given out to the family. Only 33 were made

1948-New Year's Jubilee program from San Quentin State Prison

And the most expensive item there was a signed first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. It was the first book in the Harry Potter series and J.K. Rowling's first novel. It will set you back a cool $375,000:

Rare Books San Francisco was a really cool event. I enjoyed seeing all the cool things there.

Walking By The Chase Center

 

I had to do some business by the Chase Center which is the home (since 2019) of the NBA Champions-The Golden St. Warriors. I decided to walk around it.

The Chase Center is really a cool place. Now, I wish that I could afford tickets to a Warriors game:

Caldonia Concert and Film Posters

 At the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Arts, they had an exhibition called "Caldonia Concert and Film Posters" These vintage posters were from the Ralph DeLuca Collection. DeLuca is a collector and appraiser of memorabilia.

What is cool about these posters is that celebrates the performances and films of African-American performers from the 1920's to the 1970's. These posters highlight was known as the "Chitlin Circuit". The Chitlin Circuit was a collection of performance venues throughout the eastern, midwestern and southern areas of the United States where African-American performers could play during racial segregation that lasted through the 1960's:

It was so very cool to see these posters and learn a little bit about the history of these great performers.
