The Joycebot Story

Joyce Hsu is an artist who creates site-specific art. She created her first Joycebot in December 2019.  In March 2020, she started to work from home and started a personal and ambitious art journal that has documented the experience of the last year or so as we have had a collective sharing of the pandemic and social upheaval of the last two years.

Each figure is designed and modeled digitally and then printed on a 3D printer. They are based on news and cultural events. Each part is individually printed and assembled with hand tools and glue. Here is a video of the process:

The Haight St. Art Gallery had a great exhibition showcasing her work:

Joyce's work is amazing and I am so glad that I got to see it in person.

  1. She's very clever by the look of it.

& is that the doll from Squid Games???

  3. What wonderful figures! Joyce is indeed very talented, and the figures are so cute as well. Thank you so much for sharing, Patrick!

  4. So cute - but one looks like the Squid Game doll with glasses! Thanks for joining in #Allseasons

  5. So adorable. Such fun.

Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous day, Patrick. ☺
