Reno is an interesting town, besides the Riverwalk they are trying to spruce up Downtown and make it a lot of less scuzzy. They are doing a nice job of it with mixing in the old historic buildings with the new:
Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts |
Post Office |
The courthouse |
First United Methodist Church-Reno's First Organized Church-1868 |
Amtrak Station |
I had to take some photos of the casinos downtown:
But then I decided to go back to the things they are doing to spruce it up:
Rock Climbing Wall |
Reno is trying to reinvent itself. They do have some pretty cool things going on.
Great outdoor sculpture, very cool.
ReplyDeleteNeat shots!

I think the butterfly sculpture is my favourite. Great photos. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteFab photos even better when clicked on :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for this post. It has been years since I last went to Reno. I think a return visit is needed.
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Reno...I always got the impression that it was not as big as Las Vegas, and maybe not as big of a draw too.
ReplyDeleteVery creative photography and looks like they are doing a great job with Reno renewal ~
ReplyDeleteHappy Week to you ~ ^_^

ReplyDeleteI like the style of the performing arts center.
ReplyDeletesuch interesting architecture! Thanks for showing us around!
ReplyDeleteLooks like they are doing a great job of sprucing up the city. I love beautiful architecture and those poker chips are so great! I love the whimsical mixed with the serious and classical looks.
ReplyDeleteBtw, I didn't have time last week to respond to your comment at MM and I see you've now posted one on today's post, Pat. I will carve out time to try and respond to both today. Thanks for joining the conversation over there, my friend!
Those buildings are so cool! I love capturing churches. I don't go to one regularly, but admire their buildings, windows, and interiors.

Scuzzy is a good word to describe it! Family used to live there and the riverwalk was the only nice part!
ReplyDeletereno doesn't have the best reputation! these pics helped change that (: next to you at jamie's this am in ca. (also doesn't always have the best rep! haha)
ReplyDeleteIt's great that they are fixing the city up!

I've never been there! I'm glad they are trying to fix the city up! Great pics!
ReplyDeleteReno always makes me think of the movie "The Wizard". :) Happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteHave not been to Reno, but the pictures caught my attention. Beautiful place and beautiful shots too! #brillblogposts
ReplyDeleteThat's nice - there is some really nice architecture there. Some "good bones" I guess you could say. But adding the little touches like the casino chips chairs and the beautiful Perforing centre makes it all work together, and still be unique.
ReplyDeleteSuch great architecture. I like the Performing Arts Center. How cool. I also like the bike racks. I think every city needs those. Thanks for sharing with us at Sitting Among Friends. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteLooks quite interesting, how they are mixing the casinos, old buildings and new architecture like the Performance Arts Center. I should check out Reno in detail sometime.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my WW this week. And to answer your question, no I didn't see the Embarcadero Freeway in person (it was before my time), but I have been quite fascinated with it through maps and photos. I will probably do an article about it one of these days :)
There's a really nice eclectic mix of buildings and structures there isn't there? I love the butterfly sculpture.
