Music Monday: The Kiddos Are Growing Up

Music Monday: This Music Monday is dedicated to a blogger at the blog Catch My Words whose daughter is turning 25 and to my daughter Allison who is turning 22 in a week or so. It is amazing to see kids grow up and become beautiful humans:

This one is about keeping some of your innocence even though you are an adult and it reminds me of that:

Last week I saw Five for Fighting play with a string quartet. It was one of the best shows I have ever seen. For those who don't know, Five for Fighting is one person and that is John Ondrasik. He performed a song that he said his daughter help write when she was four and then he said that she was 16 now and talked about how the years have passed by and then he said, "Gee, that is a song idea and maybe I should write a song about it." The audience roared and he sung this:

I hope everyone has a wonderful Monday.

  1. Patrick,

Your mix of familiar and new-to-me song picks touched my heart with such tenderness. I know Erika is going to love these songs as much as I do. Thanks for sharing the dance floor with us today, my friend!

  2. Great mix of songs! Happy birthday to your daughter, Allison, too. They sure do grow up fast. The Daughters song is one of my favorites. Although, I'm glad to say my single daughter is not a mother! We saw Stevie in concert. He was great, but I was amazed at all the empty seats. What's wrong with people? Actually, we saw Elton John, Kenny, and John Mayer live, too. Which is funny because we don't go to that many concerts.

Erica said, "This is cute. I like seeing all the blogposts about my birthday!"

    Thanks for the post!

  3. Such words of the heart in these songs really make me think of my own daughters, but for that fact it also makes me think of my granddaughters... they grow up so darn fast & I think everyone feels the same way it's just a bend of the heart not time! Thanks for playin' along with us my friend! hugs Happy early birthday to your little girl too!!!

  4. Happy birthday to your daughter - my son's birthday is in March and I can't believe the years that have passed. Elton John and Stevie Wonder were young adult favorites of mine - and I had never heard of Five for Fighting until I started to hear the song and I knew him! What a voice he has! Thank you for sharing these songs.

  5. Aww lovely post, happy birthday to them both :)

Thanks for sharing at Creative Mondays, hope to see you on Wednesday for our next blog hop :)

  6. Hey Patrick,
This is a wonderful blend of songs with heart and sentiment! Happy Birthday to your daughter. I remember 22 and it was a fabulous time. I often wish I could go back there...

    Have a good week,

    Michele at Angels Bark

  7. Love "Daughters", and the rest of your selections were spot-on, as well! I bet Five For Fighting was really good, especially with a string quartet. I'm not too familiar with their music, but really dug "'65 Mustang".

  8. I absolutely loved all your selections, Patrick! Nice job! :) Thanks for the dance! ;)

Love hearing comments on stuff. Please tell me what you think of the places I have been to. If you like them or not. I love comments.
