Knitted Tree Art
Walking in the Civic Center Plaza in San Francisco over the last few months, the trees have been looking different. It turns out the Trust for Public Land which is a nonprofit dedicated to creating parks and open space decided to improve Civic Center Plaza, which is famous for homeless people, open drug use and discarded needles, they called Lorna and Jill Watt who own "Knits for Life". The Watts in turn wrapped the trees in different animals and stripes:
What is cool is that I have noticed that Civic Center Plaza is a little more fun and less scuzzy these days with this tree art and another thing I have noticed is that no one has defaced or vandalized these knitted creations on the trees (it may have happened but I haven't seen it).

Wow, how cool is that. I know some knitting friends who'd love to see that! #ThatFridayLinkyReplyDelete
OMG! These are adorable! My fave is the red octopus. Or is it a squid? Glad no one vandalized these. How could anyone?ReplyDelete
These are so unique and adorable! They couldn’t help but bring a smile to your face.ReplyDelete
Our local church does knitted tree art, it makes our village look very colourful. Thanks for joining in with #ThatFridayLinkyReplyDelete
Knitted tree art?! Now, that's an oddity!ReplyDelete
Colorful knits socked around tree branches makes the trees looked cared for. It makes you wonder how they knitted the work on the tree - by fastening the knits around, or by sleeving it over or under the tree itself!
Very creative, colorful, and outrageous pieces of knit-art-work.
Something that's, probably never been done before, a joy to see - trees being given care like humans give to humans!
Uau ! Those are the coolest knitted threes I've ever seen !!ReplyDelete
The trees look amazing. I remember seeing a little village that had been yarn bombed last year. Isn't it lovely when people use their creativity in new ways #mmbcReplyDelete
Loving those giraffe trees, we should all have at least one! Thank for sharing with #PoCoLoReplyDelete

That is just so amazing. I love the idea of wrapping a tree up in so much beauty. They need cuddles toReplyDelete
omg this is amazing. In the UK we have something called yarn bombing where groups go out and cover public spaces in knitting in the dead of night to be a delightful discovery the next day. This artwork is gorgeous #anythinggoesReplyDelete
