Balboa Park in San Diego is an amazing place to walk around, it also has an amazing history. It was founded in 1868 and was the second city in America to dedicate space for an urban park. In 1870, the California state legislature passed a law saying the park will be held in trust forever.
In 1915, it hosted the Panama-California Expo and in 1935, it hosted the California Pacific International Expo.
Today, Balboa Park is home to 17 museums and the World Famous Zoo. Here is a little taste from walking around the park:

ReplyDeleteAnother great sharing of your visiting adventures. I like it; especially the carousel. Did you ride it? We use to have one in a banquet hall here, and big one in a close by town you could ride. Kids loved going there.

Babloa Park is quite a treasure that I have yet to visit in person. In addition to the places you shared, I am very curious to drive CA 163 (Former US 395) through the park with its interesting bridges.

ReplyDeleteI was at Balboa Park a couple weekends back. It was so hot. Also we went on a crowded day because there was a major Pokemon Go meetup.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos! I've been to the zoo, but I haven't been able to spend time anywhere else in Balboa Park. I need to make it a priority next time I'm in San Diego.
