Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcala was the first Franciscan Mission in The Californias which was a province of New Spain. The mission was founded on July 16th, 1769 by Fr. Junipero Serra:

Mission Basilica San Diego de Acala is one of most beautiful of Missions that I have seen. It was really nice to visit there on such a beautiful day.

Hubby and I love to visit missions and have visited many in California. I've not been to this one though. We'll have to change that.
