After years of not attending because of the massive crowds, I decided to attend the Hardly Strickly Bluegrass Festival. The festival is amazing as it is held in Golden Gate Park and it draws some really top names. The best thing about the three-day festival is that it is free. That is right- Free. That is why it draws about 750,000 people and that is why I usually stay away. Too many people. I only went for Friday but what a great day to go:
The great Mavis Staples
Gregory Alan Isakov
The late billionarie Warren Hellman's stage wear with his band. Hellman started and banrolled the festival in 2001. Before he died in 2011 he created a trust to keep the festival going and free
And the first of the two reasons I went-Lindsey Buckingham:
And the other reason I went- Alison Krauss, who I have loved her music for ages:
The music of Hardly Strickly is second-to-none. I am so glad that I went.
