Stomper in the Town

The Oakland A's are in the playoffs (they play the Wild Card Game on Wednesday against the New York Yankees), so it has been a great 50th Annivesary Season for the team in Oakland.

One thing the the A's did was have artists render their versions of Stomper Statues and they put them around town. Stomper is the cuddly elephant mascot of A's. The A's put 50 of these statues around Oakland:

You got to love the creative spirit of these artists. Seeing the different Stomper in the Town was cool.

  8. In Western Australian towns we've had various renditions of cows done like this, but there seems to be all manner of animal statues that get decorated these days. Love your Stomper in all his variations.
#MLSTL and I've shared this on my SM :)

  10. Patrick,

I did a quick take on Stomper. At first I thought he was a rat until I read that he's an elephant and that's when I did a double take. How did I see a rat? Oh well...just goes to show the mind can work sometimes...not very well. What a fun collection of the various statues for the A's mascot dotting the city! Thanks for stopping by to visit and link up!

  25. I have to say I have no idea who Stomper is but who cares when you see him is so many brilliant guises. They do a lot of these sculpture tales in the UK but I have only ever seen one in France, where I live - an equine one for the World Equestration Games. I do wish they would do some more! #citytripping
