Music Monday: Summer Movie Songs of the 1980's

I was watching something on summer movies from the 80's and just remembering some of those great tunes from summer times when I was young (Also, I was going through my record collection and I happen to own a lot of these sound tracks on vinyl-LOL). So here are some songs from summer movies of the 1980's and to make it hard on myself I decided to pick only one song from a year and the movies had to be released from April to late August (as the release schedules back then were not as targeted as they are now and movies played longer in the theaters):

From Rocky III (1982):

From Electric Dreams (1984):

From St.Elmo's Fire (1985):

From Short Circuit (1986):

From Dirty Dancing (1987):

From Say Anything (1989):

Hope you enjoyed this little look down memory lane.

  1. I always love St.Elmo's Fire, so that would be my pick! It's been years, since I've seen it.

  2. These are all great. I especially like the first one, because Jim Peterik, who's from the Chicago area and was lead guitarist for The Ides Of March ("Vehicle"), was a member of Survivor and plays on the track.

  3. Patrick,

"Short Circuit" is a film we saw in the 80s. It took many, many years before we ever saw "Dirty Dancing". In recent years, I caught "St. Elmo's Fire". That movie was chocked full of stars! Great mewsic set to boogie to this morning, my friend. Stay safe and be well!!

  5. Although I am not a frequent movie goer (never have been) I knew all these songs except for Electric Dreams. Oh that Bill Medley/Jennifer Warnes duo..well, really all of them..took me right down Memory Lane!

  6. Great job my friend. Sorry I'm late, but we had a storm here and no electricity! I HATE THAT! We have to wait until it comes back on to do anything. I was trying to work my phone, but I think my phone hates me. Anyway, did you know that there's going to be a sequel to "Dirty Dancing" and I don't remember her name, but it's going to be the same "Baby"! She's going to partial director and she's putting up money for it and everything. Dang! Well, we'll see I guess. I haven't heard Peter Gabriel in a long time. He retired early, didn't he? I wish he hadn't I really liked him. Have a great day my friend and thanks for joining us! Have a great day & be safe!
