Still Trying to Find Christmas Cheer

So in my travels recently, I have been trying to find some Christmas cheer during this holiday season. The tourist area known as Pier 39 in San Francisco decided not to put up their giant tree because they didn't want to have a "public crowd"; Ghirardelli Square and The Cannery said "Nyet" to any public displays because of crowds. A bunch of Christmas tree lots in my area are not open.  It is par of the 2020 course.

But even though I am limited in my travels and adventures I am always trying to find a little happiness and cheer in this season (Always social distancing and wearing a mask):

I went down to the Niles section of Fremont. The Niles section is where Charlie Chaplin filmed a bunch of movies over 100 years ago and considers itself this artsy and antique store area. One thing I like is their public Christmas Tree. They have used the same tree forever. It is a tree in public area and all they do is throw some lights on it. There is something about how simple it is to bring some cheer to an area:

Another place I found that some cheer was the City Hall of my city of Hayward:

And they had a great message on the windows:

As the holiday season goes on, we need to remember this key words:

  4. Amazing how a few fairy lights on a tree can bring a smile to the face.

  5. The fact that the displays are few and far between makes them all the more precious. I particularly like the minimalist tree in front of Hayward City Hall.

Happy Holidays and have a great week.

  11. I've decorated inside my home, but I never get out to shopping areas. We have drove around for several evenings to look at Christmas lights and decorations, and there is hardly anything to see. Really a subdued Christmas, as I guess is to be expected. Nice decorations in the city hall. Christmas cheer is more personal this year, and our home is filled with it, as I suppose yours is also. Wishing you a holiday season filled with warmth and love.

  12. I can see the "crowds of people" fear, but on the other hand, I think we need the lights more than ever this year. Rockefeller Center did a tree this year but did a reservation system and you are alloted only a few minutes to see it. That may not work for San Francisco. Some people here (New York State) are decorating the outsides of their houses where they never did.
