As I was driving back from Las Vegas on CA-58 in the middle of Mojave Desert, I decided to stop in Boron, Ca and visit the U.S. Borax Visitor Center. The Mojave Desert has one of the largest deposits of Borax on Earth. U.S. Borax has been mining it for 150 years. The U.S. Borax Visitor Center tells the story of borax and the mine:
