When I was leaving Reno, I took a little side trip to Sparks. I heard about the area called old town and decided to check it out. It was nice:
|
The old train station |
|
Glendale School. It was in operation from 1864 to 1958. It is the oldest remaining school build in Nevada |
|
St.Mary's Amphitheater-used for everything from weddings to monthly movie nights |
|
Last Chance Joe-he is 36 feet high |
And I love this:
|
Sparks Police Memorial. Dedicated to the men and women of the Sparks Police Department |
If you are in the Reno, make a side trip to Sparks. The old town area may be small but it is worth it.
Nice to know. My brother has a timeshare in Sparks and we stay there, but never heard of the Old Town. Nice to know. Thanks.

What a quaint little town. No one will forget Last Chance Joe! :)
ReplyDeletePatrick, I love visiting small towns. Old train depots hold a particular magical spot with me and I love to photograph them when I can. I have a hankering to take pictures of a moving train, but that's a tall bill to fill and I want to photograph a lonely set of railroad tracks. This I might be able to do. There's actually one not far from our house that might work. Now to find a good time to do that. Thanks for hopping in to link up with me today at: Another Look at Wiseman's View #WW. Have a fototastic week!
ReplyDeleteI will visit Sparks the next time I'm in Reno, which I wouldn't mind being soon. I hear a nickel slot machine calling me forth. :-)

ReplyDeleteWhat a great place. I love the old train station and the giant daffodils. I've never seen anything like that before.

I think that it's wonderful that people keep up the old buildings and towns. Let us not ever ruin or forget our heritage. Ahhh if walls could only talk.
