The Tree Fern Dell of Golden Gate Park

The Tree Fern Dell in Golden Gate Park is one of the most beautiful places in the park. It is also one of the more interesting historic places in the park. The New Zealand Tree Ferns were planted in the park sometime before 1890. During the hippie days of the 1960's, it became known as "The Mescaline Grove" as people would go there and take the psychedelic drug. These days it is just a beautiful part of Golden Gate Park to stroll around:

The Tree Fern Dell at Golden Gate Park is a beautiful place to take a walk in.

  3. Pretty! I liked seeing the white lilies most of all. They grow wild here too, especially near rivers and marshy areas just like in your photos. They're called arum lilies in South Africa. They were the only flowers in my bridal bouquet. I might have mentioned that before. Take care and thanks for linking on Amanda's Books and More!

  9. Patrick,

A lily pond? Oh cool! The flowers...are they lilies? The bloom has a heart shape. The whole place gives me a tropical feel for some reason. Perhaps, it's the over-growth and palm trees that give this sense. I would like to see this place, though. Thanks for joining my linky party yesterday, my friend. Stay safe and be well!

  13. That last one in particular is lovely - I don't think I've seen those before. I like the shot under the lillies too - with the full view of the trees. It's an interesting landscape. #Allseasons

  15. I thought they looked quite familiar! How great to have trees from so far away right in your back yard.

  16. Hi Patrick - those tree ferns are a long way from home - but they certainly add some "tropical" feel to the area - all very green and lush.
